Employment Registration

The basic function of the Employment Services is to facilitate the employment of people who are seeking jobs. Traditionally the Employment exchanges have been registering the names of unemployed candidates and sponsoring their names to Private and Public Sector employers. The main functions of the Employment Exchanges are

Placement Services
Vocational Guidance
Employment Market Information Programme & implementation & Compulsory Notification of Vacancies Act, 1959.
Extension Services like Self Employment motivation, Army Recruitment Camps etc.

There are 48 Employment Exchanges in the State. Out of which, 33 are District Employment Exchanges.5 Town Employment Exchanges are working at Khedbrahma, Dharampur, Songadh, Chhotaudepur and Mandvi for Tribal Candidates. 8 University Employment Information and Guidance Bureaus are working at Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Patan, Vallabh Vidyanagar and Bhuj and 2 Special Employment Exchanges for Women are working at Ahmedabad and Jamnagar.
